Radian6 is constantly ahead of every other monitoring tool. It is absolutely amazing. This is great news for klout and radian6. wow wow wow…
Radian6 … and my irrational response
Salesforce purchased Radian6 for a lot of money. That is a give in, I use this tool a lot! Most people have no idea what this tool is or what it does, so let me briefly explain.. Radian6 monitors the Social Web. My gut reaction was probably a little over blown. Keep in mind this is a primary business tool for me. It also makes some sense given that Radian 6 has developed tools and integrations with Salesforce lately that should have hinted towards this.
I know the folks over at Radian6 and I know they are a customer first organization (as is Salesforce). I should have given the management teams for both companies drastically more credit. The partnership should actually help the tool provide more robust data, and a better user interface. I am cautiously optimistic that the end result of this will be a rapid development of the next set of features for the tool. Being that both orgs are user first most fears/concerns I had were the result of an unknown. The other plus is that my skill set will be in increasing demand which isnt a bad thing at all.
Do you know what Radian6 is?
If so do you think this will be a good thing?

I went to Disneyland over the weekend and checked in on foursquare with my phone. (BTW Why don’t I get a badge for that?) This got me thinking about who would be more likely to check in, someone at Disneyland (orange) or someone at Disney World (blue)?
Once I pulled the foursquare data I couldn’t help but peek (not accurately) at the Facebook data. Facebook doesn’t capture everybody that checks in because of privacy settings. **Most people with foursquare accounts share it on twitter so that number is decently accurate (Radian 6 please start indexing foursquare data).
I think this is partly a statement on East Coast (NY excluded) vs. West Coast culture and the resort’s proximity to a large city. Disney World is off in its own isolated area, while Disneyland is smack dab in the middle of a major city with massive urban sprawl.
The implication is that smaller cities are slower to pick up on digital trends. It could be that apps like foursquare lack the functionality small cities. Another factor possibly has to do with options at the park themselves. Disneyland has 2 options while Disney world has a like 8.
In theory from what I have heard these numbers shouldn’t even be close Disney World should be way out in the lead….
Do you think small cities are slower to pick up digital trends or do attendance figures match?
This is a really good macro on how to grow a fashion brand. The website is the home base, twitter, youtube, and Facebook are included but so are sites like Look book and cool spotters. Fashion Bloggers are also included as a group. When talking about creating a Social Media strategy, macros like this are the starting point. Each bubble should be broken into a more defined strategy.
Map your industry, know where you must have a voice. Prioritize importance, develop strategy and start working… If this strategy is too hard to develop I suggest hiring an agency to provide social Research and strategy.
If you don’t have experience with Social Research I suggest you hire an agency to help. The learning curve for tools like Radian 6, or Sysomos are really really long. Having someone that does this on a regular basis is a really smart investment. They should be able to see things you do not.
(feel free to send me an e-mail if you need help ** see my contact page** )
***Agency’s without a lot of Social Media research experience it is ok to partner so you can add this to your portfolio. Not an area to fake it until you make it!
