The Social Media Impact: Bin Laden

This graph shows the number of posts climb from an average of 2k per day to 1.6 Million plus almost instantly. 

Posts about Bin Laden highlighted his death first and foremost. The Obama announcement made a significant dent. At the time of tracking very few posts were talking about the 9/11 attack. Most news centered on the announcement itself. 

It is clear that @CNNbrk was the major news source for most people, apparently getting the most RT’s. 

Lastly This man @reallyVirtual became a web-lebrity instantly by live tweeting the attack by accident. On April 30th he  had 730 follower by the end of the day it looks like he will have 73,000 followers. 

Groupon Makes $800 Million in Annual Revenue, Not $2 Billion [EXCLUSIVE] The 800 million number could reflect Groupon Revenue after partnership payoffs. Essentially this would mean that Groupon would have really have a revenue rate at 1.28 Billon on the site. These aren’t numbers to sneeze at but they do raise more questions… 1. Does the data really suggest that Run Rates are going to continue or are they at peak? Hard to say without detailed info but with the number of businesses being shut down and satisfaction numbers suggest they are at peak. 2. Is 6.6 times Gross revenue a reasonable offer? If you are taking a favorable view of the growth rates and say they are going to continue than walking away from the deal makes sense. If you are reading the data and see it as potential peak number then the sell is a steal…  Walking away from the Google offer means leaving  money on the table. Groupon placed a bet (a large bet) on their team and product. Time will tell if it was smart.
